Community Organiser Job Vacancy

A group of five development trusts in Bradford have been chosen to take part in the National Community Organisers scheme. Community Organisers is a government funded scheme led by Locality www.locality.org.uk, which aims to train 5000 ‘Community Organisers’, individuals who will work in local communities around the country to bring people together, listen to ideas, build networks and support people to tackle the local issues which are important to them.



Trainee Community Organisers - 35 hours per week f/t – £8.50 per hour

The duration of these posts is for 51 weeks.

The successful candidates will help residents, groups, associations and businesses within specific neighbourhoods in the Bradford area to develop their collective power to act together. These posts are all about listening widely to adults and young people and to help individuals have conversations which motivate them to take action, to benefit their lives and communities. Full training will be given for this role and candidates must be available to attend a three day residential training course which will be on 7th to 9th December 2011 in Manchester (expenses paid). It is essential that you are a highly motivated and committed individual who has excellent organisational skills and is reflective and self aware. You must be willing to support the learning of others including fellow trainees and the wider community.
