Food For Thought

Fagley residents are invited to taste the difference of locally-grown food at a free event promoting the Beaumont Park food growing project at Fagley Youth and Community Centre.

The event tomorrow from 3pm to 6pm incorporates the Fagley Neighbourhood Forum, and will offer residents chance to sample local produce, as well as potting up plants and seeds.

Also on the menu will be young local bands from the Fagley School of Rock, plus sports activities, treasure hunt, information stalls and freebies. This is the third Let’s Get Fagley Growing event.

Visitors will be invited to take a tour of the whole site, including the recently built polytunnels and raised beds.

Centre manager Keith Cornwell said: “We want Fagley residents to know about the terrific opportunity at Beaumont Park to grow their own food, which makes healthy eating cheaper.”

The event is taking place despite a recent break-in at the centre.
