Children swing into action

Youngsters at an after-school club which cares for children with special needs are jumping for joy thanks to a new state-of-the-art adventure playground.

Snoop was launched seven years ago at the Holybrook Centre in Greengates with only two members of staff and four children.

Now it provides services for more than 100 young people and has been highlighted in a Government Ofsted report as promoting the best examples of special needs childcare.

And thanks to £5,000 funding, the centre has recently put the finishing touches to its own adventure playground.

Councillor Carol Beardmore (Lib Dem, Eccleshill), who set up the registered charity with project partner Carol Amery, said: “The children love it, it is fantastic and has made a real difference. They all have big smiles on their faces!”
