Newlands Community Association is one of nine national organisations working with Institute for Voluntary Action Research and New Pilanthropy Capital on looking at ways to assess and articulate the impact that multi-purpose community organisations have on communities over time. The current action phase of the research involves developing ways of assessing that impact, and trying them out and learning from that experience with support from the research team.
The inquiry phase of the research found four key areas in which multi-purpose community organisations are thought to have an impact. Newlands has decided to use the opportunity of a consultation with the Board to look at how multi-purpose community organisations, specifically Newlands, possess characteristics which enable the organisation to create and sustain positive change in local communities.
This workshop gave the NCA Board members a chance to explore the ways the NCA affects the local community and how the local community affects the NCA
