Thorpe Edge Community Project

The centre, which has now been running for three years, is proving to be a key asset to the community of Thorpe Edge and surrounding areas. It is a multi- purpose facility situated in the middle of the estate. The centre comprises:

• Training Room for up to 30 people
• Community Café & Training Kitchen
• 33 place full day-care Nursery
• Large community hall for up to 80 people
• Reception/Exhibition Area
• Furnished office space with staffed reception
• Community Internet access point.
• Outdoor Events Area
• Disabled Access throughout
• Car parking

Activities run at the centre include – Computer classes, Healthwise – gentle exercise, Cook & Eat, Street Dance, Arts and Crafts, weekly Coffee Mornings, Line Dancing, Community lunches, community meetings, weight management, money management, health promotion events and activities, play projects, children’s parties and social functions. Over 12000 users of the centre were recorded during the past 12 months which employs 14, mainly local people, in the Nursery and Community Centre.
